Q: Why did you choose to do floristry as a career?

A: I noticed florist’s posts on Instagram, and they caught my eye. I started to follow several florists who I found inspiring and decided this was the route I wanted to take. I went into my local florist to ask for work, and they gave me the opportunity which has led me to study floristry at college.

Q: What do your friends and family think?

A: They are really supportive, they thought it would be a good fit for me and they could see me doing well in this industry. I have family in Gibraltar, and they are already planning my business over there!!

Q:  What’s the best bit about your chosen career?

A: I love the peak periods, dealing with customers and working under pressure.  This has taught me how to interact with colleagues and the public and to find the right balance of hard work, meeting deadlines whilst also having a giggle!

Q:  Have you any regrets?

A: No! I  love it and am looking forward to learning new things and working in the industry.

Q: Where do you hope to be in the future?

A: I would like to have my own business and also work in events and gain some competition experience. I’m totally open to learning and to following the path ahead of me.

Q:  What advice would you give to anyone thinking about taking up floristry?

A: Floristry is not an easy job but if you love it and are passionate about it, you should do it!

Q: What would you like to tell the world about floristry?

A: Every florist has their own style, but I think it is really important to listen to advice and learn from other professionals whether that is on social media, in person, in my workplace or from my tutors – we all learn from each other.
